Double Check Checkmate 双将/双照将 杀法

In Xiangqi, as the king is limited to the palace, delivering two simultaneous checks on the king is often possible. When the king under check can only resolve one of the checks, but not both with the same move, a checkmate would occur.

There are many combinations to this type of checkmate but the cannon is perhaps the most often used. Discovered checks are often used.

When there are three simultaneous checks, it is called a triple check.

In Xiangqi, a maximum of four checks can be delivered at the same time.  But this checkmate is probably never seen in OTB play.
