Smothered Cannon Checkmate 炮闷宫 (pào mēn gōng)

The Smothered Cannon Checkmate is one of the most basic kills the cannon can have. The palace consists of nine intersections where the king can move. If the palace were filled with other pieces that might prevent the king from moving freely or restricting it one file or rank, the Smothered Cannon Checkmate is one of the attacking options. So, if the palace were full of friendly or enemy pieces  , this kill can be utilized, given the cannon's capacity to jump over cannon mounts.

This kill would be relatively foreign to Iternational Chess players, because the cannon is a rather unique piece to Xiangqi.
