31st Oct 2011: Added 10 more games to the Gems manual. Hope the next week is less busy. Working on another opening, but I do not think I can get it done tonight...
30th Oct 2011: Very busy week...sigh. Only had time to add 10 more puzzles from the Gems Manual.
29th Oct 2011: Published the answers to the daily puzzles up till 10/27, by request from visitors to the facebook page. Finally, I am getting more discussion. Keep it up! Am still in the process of adding a new opening page. --> finally finished, Same direction cannons: filed chariot vs slow chariot 01 ... have fun and tell me what you think.
28th Oct 2011: Another 10 more Gems games. Bloody busy week...Am in the process of adding another opening, the same direction cannons, filed chariot vs slow chariot variation, but it is half done ....too tired to continue.
27th Oct 2011: another 10 more games to the Gems Manual. Busy, busy...sigh. Was hoping to have added more openings. Hope I have more time this weekend.
26th Oct 2011: Added 10 more games to the Gems Manual. Busy week! After finishing the Gems Manual, I intend to concentrate on the endgames and openigns section so that I hope to be able to have the first endgames directory before the end of the year. And I will be concentrating on a few openings....
25th Oct 2011: Did a horse vs pawn opening. Click here ... And added a new page to the puzzles from 10/22-10/23, in view of the great response lately. Keep it up! Please give me feedback on the openings... I am still experimenting with different ways to make it better!

19th Oct 2011: Finally, I have finished Hong Zhi's biography ... and added another opening board: Central cannon with 3pa vs Left cannon blockade iwth halfway opposite direction cannons variation. Red uses the right riverbank horse variation. Click here...

16th Oct 2011: Added page 2 to Things to look out for in Xiangqi openings. I think that section by GM Liu would take up 3-4 pages. Click here ... Also added 5 more games to the Gems menu.
15th Oct 2011: Added a few more articles to the openings section which I encourage the beginner or intermediate player to read. Page 01 of Things to look out for in Xiangqi openings and How to learn Xiangqi Openings. Condensed from GM Liu Dianzhong's book on openings for beginners. 14th Oct 2011: Some domestic matters popped up. Only added 5 more games to the Gems Manual and added a few more answers to the puzzles.
13th Oct 2011: Added 10 more games to the Gems Manual. Added one very very basic page, the first of a few on basic opening theory. Condensed from GM Liu Dianzhong's book on openings for beginners. Although it is intended for beginners, there were nearly 30 pages on opening theory alone... you will have to pay me to tranlate all that... LOL. Please go to the openings section on the menu bar to find it. Too tired to hyperlink it....
12th Oct 2011: Added 5 more games to the Gems manual, click here... Added a new opening studying the Elephant opening with right proper horse variation vs Left Cross Palace Cannon with 7th Pawn Advancement variation. Click here...And I received an email from Mark Taylor about his publication of an Article on Xiangqi Great Xie Xiaxun. His article is published in a very renowned International Chess magazine. I feel proud that a western magazine has done an article acknowledging Xie for the work he has done. 11th Oct 2011: Added 10 more games to the Gems manual. Still trying to collect info about Jiang Chuan and Hong Zhi. Any people with information to share?
10th Oct 2011: Added a new opening board discussing what would happen if red accepts the chariot exchange in the cc vs sch ppdc opening. very important and basic. should help you to clarify a few things. 9th Oct 2011: Added 10 more games to the Gems manual. Also added more examples to various pages of the basic kills and midgames pages that I have come across while preparing the daily puzzles. Preparing more opening stuff. And still collecting info on Hong Zhi and Jiang Chuan.  I need feeback on the openings page. 8th Oct 2011: Took me one whole day, but it is done. A general annotated summary on perhaps the most played opening in Xiangqi all over the world today. This is a basic introduction whereby I have tried to explain the basics of the various variations. Click here...Have also added the answers to the puzzles up till yesterday, in view of the increase in number of responses. Please go to the menu bar and click on ans to daily xq puzzles. Deadbeat.
7th Oct 2011: Found 3 nice examples to explain why we need to learn opening theory. Click here.  Added another 5 more games to the Gems manual. Computer ok now...back to work!
6th Oct 2011: yes, my cpu broke down...sigh, i hope the stuff that i have prepared but yet to backup does not get lost. and i hope it is ok by tomorrow, but the computer people say that quite a few things are spoilt...sigh. anyway,have not been able to do much with my wife's laptop, just uploaded 10 more games to the Gems manual. I was halfway preparing another opening...sigh...
5th Oct 2011: After the online server broke down, my cpu started throwing tantrums. Maybe it wants to be retired...Anyway, should it break down or if I need to get a new CPU, I might have to use my wife's computer to upload new stuff. That would greatly decrease efficiency...sigh. Anyway, I have added a nice basic board on opening theory for the same direction cannons. I highly recommend it. Click here . And also a simple new midgame tactic page. Click here...And I am still having trouble downloading the 16th 5 Rams Cup Games. If any kind soul has them in xqf or cbc format, please send a copy to me. It is hard enough with the cpu crashing 5 times in an hour.
4th Oct 2011: The darned server broke down yesterday night at 3+am while I was publishing the site. Anyway, I have added a few more games to the Gems in the satchet Manual (the newest ancient manual on this site...).  sheesh...
3rd Oct 2011: Did much work today, in celebration of my 100th like on facebook. Added a new midgame tactic page, Sacrifice before gaining back. Click here... Also added a new opening variation. Same direction cannons: Filed chariot vs Ranked chariot with red using the 3rd pawn advancement , proper horses and cross riverbank variation. Took me much time... Click here! Or go to the openings section on the menu bar on the left to look for it. Have started work also on another ancient manual " Gems in the Satchet".  Need feedback on the openings section. 2nd Oct 2011: The Extreme Manual is finally finished! Have added all the remaining games there is! Also stole some time to add the last best of the best games ever selected in history. Click here. Tiring!
1st Oct 2011: Finally , have finished all the variations of the Wild Horse Roaming Fields. Click here for the last variation. I think I have had enough chariot pawn puzzles to last me a long long time. Been exactly half a year since I started this website. It is growing but not as fast as I would have thought. Thanks to everyone who have sent me emails for encouragement! Will continue. Might take a break after I hit 1000 pages (there are now over 600 pages)...
