31st March: Today marks the 1st Anniversary of this site. Never expected it to last so long and never expected that I would get so much help. There are now over 1000 pages to my site. A special thank you note is mandatory. Click here ...  I will take a 3 wk break, although the urge to upload stuff now and then would be hard to quell. The daily puzzles will go on and I will upload the ans every few days. Thank you again.

29th March: Found and uploaded another board commented by the winner. Click here... also did the bio of another GM,  GM Jiang Chuan. For more information about the Xiangqi greats, click here ...
28th March: 3am, and I have finally finsihed today's board, a very interesting one played by two female GMs, GM Zhang Guofeng and GM Ouyang Qilin. The commentary was provided by GM Zhang herself and is a peek into the way experts view the game. GM Zhang's games are also some of the best games to watch! 27th March: Added a new board on openings basics which I found a few days ago. It is on the topic of finding a target to attack in the opening. It was done by another amateur like myself and the moves given are very interesting. Click here ... Also added the ans to the puzzles up till 03/22. Click here .
26th March: Found and annotated a game by one of the youngest GM's , if not the youngest, GM Xie Jing against GM Bu Fengbo in 2009. For his autobiography, though very limited, please click on his name. For the game, click here... For more annotated games, click here . And Mr Wong Man Sang from Brunei has pointed out another flaw in the 20120320 poc 2 puzzle, which I have corrected. LOL. Thanks again Mr Wong for coming to my rescue!

22nd March : I looked at my annotated games section and found to my horror that I had not done any games by GM Xu Yinchuan ... ouch. Today's game was played by him vs GM Hong Zhi. Click here ... Have fun! For more annotated games, click here .

20th March: Master Li Hongjia goes up against GM Liu Dahua in today's annotated game. I think I am falling in love with uploading the games! Have fun!
19th March: I found many games with decent annotations and will proceed to upload them over the next week. Today's addition is a game whereby GM Liu Dianzhong goes up against GM Zhao Guorong. As usual, GM Liu Dianzhong chooses to attack... Have fun! I also updated an old addition with some new information that I found recently on The Game that Lost Huashan, which was allegedly played by Emperor Zhao Kuangyin many centuries ago.

17th March: It has been sometime since I did autobiographies of the Xq greats. Today, I researched and did a short autobiography of one of my heroes, GM Liu Dianzhong. Also added a game he played a few years ago as black against GM Zhao Xinxin. Click here ...For more annotated games, click here .

"Il Fogliaccio degli Astratti" is the magazine on which Mr Antonio Barra has written to Xiangqi lovers in Italian....Nice piece on the Same Direction Cannons and they are variations not found on this site. I do not understand Italian but the moves look good! You may see it here ...

12th March: A 6th page on the ODC saga. Click here ... Also added the answers up till the 8th of March. Click here ... And I am proud to announce that this website was mentioned in a magazine. in the section on Xiangqi written by Mr Antonio Barra. It is completely in Italian and I can only guess that it was an article on the Same Direction Cannons.... I hope more of the Western world learns about this game. I await Mr Barra's permission to post his nice articles.
11th March: A 5th page on the ODC saga. Click here ...  A friend mentioned the use of Deferred ODC with major and minor variation as a better name for it. any thoughts? please contact me!  Sigh, there is still a lack of decent official names for the many terms in the game, and that is one problem that I have tried my best to overcome. 8th March: Added page 3 to the introduction to the ODC.  This time black tries a new approach tot e big variation of the odc... Click here ... or Click here to the ODC submenu bar on the left in case you missed out on the previous editions. They were condensed from a very nice book on the topic. I would like more feedback if possible. If there are any suggestions, please tell me.
7th March: Added another annotated game , this one on one of the hottest and youngest stars in China, Master Zheng Weitong, click here. For more annotated games, click here .

5th March: As promised, I spent a few hours going through my books and did an introductory board on the Opposite Direction Cannons. Also went to the bookstore, but there was not much new material on this opening. Learning the roots of this opening would help you understand why certain moves are played and why some are not. Click here for page 01 of the introduction. Also, spent the entire afternoon revamping the openings section so that it looks neater. Just hover your mouse over the Openings tab in the menu bar and many sub-menu bars will appear. Click on the opening you like. My fingers are aching now...
4th March: Today's annotated game is a very interesting game, a seldom played opening by red. Master Zhu Xiaohu is upcoming player and shows his brilliance in this rather lengthy game. Click here ...or click here for more annotated games. Have Fun!

3rd March: The translation of annotated games seems to be a hit. Quite a few friends have expressed their delight. LOL. Well, I am not that good, I cannot understand most of the moves, if I could, I would be sitting there, making a living as a professional Xq player, LOL. But have fun and enjoy today's edition, a breathtaking battle between GM Liu Dahua and Master Hao Jichao. Very nice game. Click here... or click here for more annotated games. Have fun! The Reserved ODC seemed to have gained some momentum also, I think I will do a little bit more study on his cousin, the Halfway ODC, as a favor to a good friend... LOL.
