Chapter seven is the last and the shortest of all the chapters (I think) in the book. It deals with the Elephant opening. Only three boards with the most commonly played encounters : the left cross palace cannon, the right palcorner cannon and the left central cannon are discussed. There is only one page to this section. So treasure it...LOL.
The elephant opening was made a viable alternative by GM Hu Ronghua. It is a more deliberate and slow paced opening, whereby the main battle would take place in the midgame and endgame. It is a favourite of many GMs and Masters.
GM Liu Dianzhong shows the major variations of the 3 most commonly used counters against the elephant. Go through the boards to get a feel of the game.
