Small Variation: Red R9+1 and black H2+3

The Small Variation of the ODC is completely different though. It is less volatile that the big variation and allows black to control his game better. There are also more chance of springing a counter on black.
In the previous board, red used the Riverbank Cannon. For the next two boards, Red speeds up the development of his chess pieces further with R9+1. For this page Black counters with H2+3. 
Again, it is never enough to encourage the newcomer or beginner to go through the Ancient manuals,
in particular The Secret in the Tangerine and The Plum Flower Manuals to get a hang of this opening.
I have included two boards for your perusal to compare variations in case you get lost.
