Anyway, this is a basic introduction to one of the variations of the same direction cannons. It is quite new and still seen in competition. In this variation, Red moves two proper horses (H2+3 and H8+7), pushes the 3rd Pawn forward (WXF calls it 3rd Pawn Advancement and I abbreivate it as 3PA) and plays R2+5. R2+5 would imply that the chariot patrols the river on the opponent's side, a risky move! The chinese term is 骑河车 and there is no official WXF nomenclature yet, the last time I looked. GM Hu Ronghua is credited with this variation, and took the same direction cannons to a new level while breathing new life into this old opening.
A note for beginners, unlike chess, there are much less specific names for the openings.
Xiangqi openings are basically named after the moves. And due to the lack of terms, I have had to invent some myself.
