This is perhaps the most well known opening in ancient times and has been greatly discussed in detail in the Secret of the Tangerine and the Plum Flower Manuals. The Same Direction Cannons : Ranked Chariot vs Filed Chariot is still being played frequently nowadays.
This is the second board discussing the double ranked chariot variation for red, an interesting variation, but black plays A6+5 early.
Modern day opening theory has made improvisions on the way the ranked chariot attacks for red. It is quite refreshing to see the changes.
In the following boards, I have scanned a few books and the moves recorded are basically from Master Yan Wenqing and Master Zhang Qiang's series on openings. I have added a few simple explanations here and there to help the beginner understand more of what is going on.
It represents a short introduction to this opening.
I have added 2 boards lest you get lost.
I need ideas to improve, and if you find any major mistakes, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com . I need feedback!
