Maneuvering with help from other pieces 借力
A very basic tactic.
Simply put, there are two (or maybe more ) pieces on the board, piece A and piece B. By moving piece B, you attack, clog, threaten to kill, threaten to capture...your opponent. He has to resolve this threat and you are allowed to move piece A to a better position. Very practical.
Commonly used tactics include maneuvering the chariot with the help of the cannon, maneuvering the horse with the help of the cannon etc. Often, a discovered check is used. More will be said about this in other pages.
And if anybody has a better term, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org , and email me soon; I do not wish to do this too many times...Life is too short to be spent on such unnecessary details when I have many mahjong games to attend to.
