This is eighth page on the last chapter in the book. And this is a very special and important page.
To round off his examples of draws in endgame compositions, the GM introduces the BIG Four.
They are the considered the greatest of endgame compositions of all time. And because of the scope of the book, only the major variations is shown. Liu has selected some more endgames for everybody's perusal. In fact, in "The Gathering of the Seven Stars", it is reputed to have over 300 variations. This endgame composition was also one of the first encounters the West had with XiangQi.
I have published all the variations of these four endgame compositions. Please hover your cursor over "Composed Games" in the menu bar and you will find them. I recall it took me over 8 hours I think just for one of the puzzles, when I uploaded it two years ago.
PS: The names of some of the ancient manuals were ones that I have spent much time thinking off. It is the best that I can do.

I have redone GM Liu Dianzhong's lectures adding footnotes to his explanations to make things easier for the newcomer and I have tried my best to add the explanations to some of the variations to help the beginner appreciate the game better. If you discover any mistakes or have better moves, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
