Lan Ke Shen Ji Boards 101-110
Yu Guozhu's Lan Ke Shen Ji was published in 1844AD and was a collection of 120 endgame compositions. Compared with the other ancient manuals of its time, Lan Ke Shen Ji was relatively straightforward, making it the perfect book for training your calculative skills in Xiangqi.
There have also been modifications of the problems by modern-day Xiangqi experts, and these modifications have been included to show and explain how the puzzle had intended to win. It would be an excellent choice for the Xiangqi lover to start learning how to make and modify his own endgame compositions.
Note: The axe shown on the cover page has something to do with the title as will be explained in the book. This book is relatively simple, but there are quite some mistakes whereby modern-day Xiangqi experts have made modifications. There were several versions to it but I have chosen to use the puzzles given in Yang Mingzhong's Encyclopedia of Xiangqi Manuals as the backbone and main reference. Xie Xiaxun's Encyclopedia of Xiangqi Manuals has also been referenced.
